The Golden Calf
This LOT can come up when someone has an addiction or is dealing with the problems caused by someone else's addiction. When Moses went up into the mountain, the people became impatient, started fighting and made an idol out of gold. When we put anything ahead of God or Love or our highest good we are like the people in this story. Our addictions are our golden idols.
Sign of Cross Cast
My son, Kyle, pointed out that position #4, Spirit, very often can be interpreted as the gift of the past that has brought you to this point in time, the energy contributing to the current problem or situation. It can also be the gift that will help you to do your holy mission.
Wise Men
A message that comes through often with Wise Men is "Go home by another route." This means do not go back over old tracks and old ways. Let the past be finished. Don't second quess yourself. There are alternative routes, new things and ways to discover.
Zacharias
The way to overcome resistance and a sense of powerlessness is to state the Truth. Truth sets you free.
Birth of Jesus
This LOT may refer to humble surroundings or something happening in an unusual place. It can also be a new beginning from an unusual place or circumstance.
Transfiguration
Another message that comes through Transfiguration is that you should not talk about what is going on or your concerns until the Resurrection, meaning new life or understanding about the situation.
Remember that the word transfiguration means to see differently, so there is a need to see the situation in s new light.
Martha and Mary
This also refers to worries. Jesus said Martha was worried about many things while only one thing was important and that was to be present in the moment.
Pentecost
Pentecost often refers to addictions. Pentecost was the Jewish feast of the completion of the barley harvest. Beer is made from barley and beer/ alcohol can be an addiction. If the positive meaning for this LOT does not make sense in a particular reading look to see if addiction applies. The person may be celebrating and still enjoying an addictive substance, or battling the addcition, or in recovery.
Mary Magdalene
When Mary brought aloes to the tomb, she was so caught up in her sorrow that she did not recognize Jesus. She thought He was the gardener and asked what he had done with the body. Jesus called her by name. At that moment she recognized Him and said "Raboni" which means teacher. This reminds us that when we are caught up in our emotions or the past, we miss what is right in front of us. We need to be present in the NOW. The fact that Mary called Him "Raboni" says to us that in the midst of our pain and sorrow we find our teacher or teaching.
Woman caught in Adultery
Often the message in this LOT is to see "the writing on the wall"- to look for the signs that you need. They are right at your feet or in front of you.
Parables
Parables refers to communication and hidden meanings. It can come up when someone is trying to hide something especially if the LOT is reversed.
Jesus and Children
When working with the triangle of Jesus, the apostles, and the women, consider this meaning for the women. They can represent boundary issues because they kept approaching Jesus despite the fact that He was tired and the apostles were telling them to go away. They also suggest that you are seeking the best for your children or yourself, wanting to get the most you can from some situation or person.
The Trial
The only words Jesus spoke during His trial were "It is as you said." This is so important. Jesus is reminding each of us that we create through our words. Watch what you say. Express only the truth you wish for - not what you fear.
Scourging at the pillar
Jesus was scourged because Pilate was looking for a way to free him. This LOT can therefore address hidden agendas Jesus was innocent so this can also come up when someone is being punished for something they did not do. It could possible refer to self punishment because Jesus said nothing to defend Himself.
Carrying the Cross
Another message from this LOT may be that we truly cannot help or save someone. Simon was ordered to help Jesus but that help only kept Jesus from dying before they were able to crucify Him. It only saved him for the painful and public crucifixion. Jesus showed us the real meaning of the crucifixion. Metaphorically it is the process consciously dying on any level- physical, mental or emotional. This is the process of accepting responsibility, forgiving, and surrendering (turning ourselves over to God) It is from this that we are reborn into a higher level of life.
It is hard to watch someone suffer and not want to help. We can help or carry someone and think we are doing good but when we stop or put them down again they are still consciously where we picked them up – maybe a little stronger, maybe with new insight but basically still needing to die to the old, to forgive and make peace with their past, and align themselves with God’s will. We cannot do that for them.
Crucifixion
There is a major typo in this chapter. Please make the following correction: The soldiers didn't break His bones to make sure He was dead but pierced His side instead.
The Bible records that when Jesus died, the dead were raised and walked the streets. What this means for us is that when we surrender our egos and our problems to God and stop struggling, we not only open ourselves to new life but also free others to move on in their lives and experience new life energy. We are all connected. The work we do on ourselves affects others.
Resurrection
If the message of new life does not apply, consider these thoughts: You may be looking to the past, seeking in the wrong place. You are expecting things or people to be as they were, but they have moved on.
The earthquake can refer to something that shakes things up and removes a blockage.
The tearing of the temple veil represents the parting of the veil that keeps us stuck in our illusion. This says that you can see clearly now.
SIGN - Loaves and Fishes
Jesus had the apostles have the people sit in groups of fifty. This tells us that we can be overwhelmed when looking at the problem or situation as a whole. Sometimes we need to break it down into managable parts.
Woman at the Well
In some readings, Woman at the Well can refer to 'hitting bottom"- either the fact that someone has or the need to hit bottom before progressing or recovering.
